Privacy Policy

LearnMatch operates the website and features described in this Policy. For personal data processed through the Service, LearnMatch acts as the personal information controller under the Data Privacy Act where it determines the purposes and means of processing. Our published contact point is hello@learnmatch.college.

This Policy does not govern the practices of institutions, websites, applications, or other third parties that are linked from or integrated with the Service. Their own privacy notices apply to information you provide to them.

Assessment and browser data

The optional assessment may process the responses you choose to enter, including interests, preferences, academic-readiness inputs, and practical constraints. Your browser stores the profile, resulting recommendations, and assessment history in local browser storage. The profile is sent to the recommendation endpoint only when you request a result; we do not intentionally retain it in a database as an identifiable assessment record.

A share link may encode assessment information in the link itself. It is your responsibility to control access to that link. Anyone who receives it may be able to view the information it reproduces.

Technical, usage, and location data

We and providers acting for or alongside us may process IP address, browser and device information, pages viewed, search activity, referring page, language, approximate location, cookie or similar identifiers, and interactions with the Service. We use technical data for functionality, security, analytics, advertising measurement, and service improvement.

Precise location is used only if you permit it through your browser. If you use location or directions features, coordinates may be sent to mapping or routing providers. An IP address may be sent to ipapi.co to obtain an approximate location when that feature is used as a fallback.

Information we ask you not to provide

The assessment is not designed to request sensitive personal information, such as health, religious, political, ethnic, sex-life, government-issued, or financial information. Please do not submit that information through the Service or by email unless we expressly request it through an appropriate and lawful process.

We process personal data to operate and protect the Service, including to:

• provide searches, location, routing, and the assessment result you request;
• maintain, troubleshoot, secure, and improve the Service;
• detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, abuse, and automated extraction;
• measure use of the Service and advertising performance; and
• comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

Under Philippine law, we process personal information when consent, contract or your request, legitimate interests, legal obligation, or another lawful basis under RA 10173 applies. We process sensitive personal information only where a lawful basis and required safeguards apply. Where the GDPR, UK GDPR, or similar law applies, the corresponding basis may be consent, performance of a contract or request, legitimate interests, or legal obligation, as applicable.

Browser local storage and cookies may be used to operate the Service and remember preferences. LearnMatch also uses Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, and Google advertising-related services. These providers may process identifiers, IP address, device data, and usage or interaction data under their own terms and privacy notices.

Microsoft Clarity may record session interactions for usability analysis. Google services may measure site use and advertising performance and may support ad personalisation, depending on your settings and the services available in your region. You can manage browser cookies and local storage through browser controls and manage Google advertising preferences through Google My Ad Center. You may also review the Google partner-sites notice and the Microsoft Privacy Statement.

Blocking cookies or withdrawing consent where a consent mechanism is offered may affect certain features. It does not remove information that third-party providers have already processed under their own policies.

We do not sell personal information for money. We may disclose or make data available to providers that support the Service, including hosting and security providers, Google, Microsoft, ipapi.co, OpenStreetMap tile providers, and OSRM routing services. The data shared depends on the feature used and may include technical data, IP address, usage data, cookie identifiers, or coordinates.

We may also disclose information where required or permitted by law, to comply with a court order or lawful government request, to enforce our rights, or to protect the security, rights, and safety of LearnMatch, users, or others. Advertising and analytics disclosures may be treated as “sharing” or similar regulated processing under certain non-Philippine privacy laws; relevant choices remain available through the providers and your browser controls.

LearnMatch is designed for the Philippines, but providers may process data in countries other than yours, including the United States and countries in which Google, Microsoft, and other providers operate. Laws in those locations may differ from Philippine law.

Where international transfer safeguards are required, we will use safeguards appropriate to the processing and applicable law, which may include contractual, organisational, or technical measures. We remain accountable for transfers to the extent required by RA 10173 and other applicable law.

Assessment profiles, results, and history remain in your browser until you delete them, clear browser site data, or your browser removes them. The recommendation endpoint processes the profile transiently to produce your requested result and is not intended to retain it as an assessment record. Security and rate-limiting information is kept only for the period reasonably necessary to protect the Service. Third-party providers retain data under their own policies.

We retain information that we control only as long as necessary for the stated purpose, to meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce agreements, subject to applicable retention requirements.

We use reasonable organisational, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the nature of the data we process, including encrypted transport and measures intended to protect against unauthorised access and abuse. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

If a personal data breach occurs, we will investigate, mitigate, document, and notify the National Privacy Commission, affected individuals, and any other authority where required by applicable law.

Subject to the limits and conditions in RA 10173 and its implementing rules, data subjects may have the right to be informed, object, access, rectify, erase or block, obtain data portability, claim damages where provided by law, and lodge a complaint with the National Privacy Commission. If you believe your privacy rights have been infringed, you may contact the National Privacy Commission.

If a non-Philippine privacy law applies to our processing of your personal data, you may have additional rights, such as access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, withdrawal of consent, or a complaint to a supervisory authority. These rights are subject to the applicable law, its territorial scope, and any permitted exceptions. Contact us to make a request; where we cannot identify data held by a third-party provider, we may direct you to that provider’s controls.

LearnMatch may be used by students who are under 18. The Service is designed to avoid requiring a production account or direct collection of identifying assessment data. If you are a minor, consult a parent, guardian, teacher, or other responsible adult as appropriate. Where consent is required by applicable law, a parent or guardian must provide or authorise it. A parent or guardian may contact us regarding a minor’s personal data.

Links to schools, universities, CHED materials, mapping services, and other websites are provided for convenience. We do not control their content, availability, security, or privacy practices. Review their terms and privacy notices before providing information.

We may amend this Policy to reflect changes in the Service, law, or our processing practices. The “Last updated” date identifies the current version. We will provide additional notice of material changes where required by applicable law.
